Ixion is a PC game developed by France-based indie studio Bulwark Games and published by Kasedo Games. This simulator takes players to outer space. Here, you will play as a traveling space station captain, who must manage the station while looking for a new home for humanity.

Ixion is not a simple space game. Rather, it combines multiple genres, spanning across elements of city-building, survival, and even space exploration. There is a lot to do in the game that players will have hours of entertainment. Note, however, that it requires a device with a good processor and large storage space. 

What is Ixion?

Ixion is a game that combines narrative and thinking. As mentioned, it is a city-building and colony management game with survival and exploration elements added to it. The goal of the game is to find and build a new home for humankind now that Earth is inhabitable. However, everything is not easy. Besides traversing galaxies to find a new planet, you will also manage the station and its despondent crew.

Managing your station is not only about keeping them alive. You also have to keep them happy and hopeful. You will make various decisions, sometimes tough ones. If your colonists are not in favor, you will lose their trust. Worse, if things go south, you may lose your position. If you are a fan of FrostPunk, this gameplay will sound similar.

Ixion takes the game further by adding more elements to its exploration gameplay. As you explore galaxies, you will also salvage resources from earlier failed missions. More than that, you will also rescue cryogenically frozen survivors and add them to your colony. Note, however, that because of its huge content, the game can be quite resource-intensive. Not only that, but it requires a good game computer to perform smoothly.

Is the game worth it?

Overall, Ixion takes the space game genre to a new height. Here, you will not only explore outer space but experience numerous managing tasks. You will also conduct rescue operations. However, having such a large amount of content can be confusing. There are a lot of things to consider that it might get overwhelming. Not to mention, it takes a toll on your resources.
